Staying in Kitzbühel for a week in Tyrol it’s a good idea. Kitzbühel is a nice place in the middle of the Tyrol Valley. From here you may go to most places in an hour approximately. If you go to Kitzbühel by car and you have made a lot of kilometres, like I did, I would recommend you to rest and visit this town and its surrounding the first day. There are a lot of small hikes with astonishing views.

Austria is a good place to relax, walk or visit cities with special interest in music. Besides, you may go to Tyrol with your dog, as I did, since they don’t have any problems with animals and if they do, don’t worry, as there are lots of mountains to go for a walk.

The second day, you may go to Krimml. There you will find the Krimmler Waserfälle. This is the biggest waterfall in Europe. It measures 380 meters and has 3 tiers.
To see the waterfall well, you must buy a ticket (in the same place) for only 3€. This ticket gives you the access to the excursion around the waterfall. It’s a little walk, 4km.

But all is steep, with 400 meters difference in height, but well it’s a waterfall.

Don’t forget a camera because there are different points to see the tier and make photos. And if you carry a little towel it might be handy, because these points are so near the waterfall and sometimes you get wet.

When you get to the summit, and if you want, you may walk a little farther, to a big road and take a walk for the valley. If you carry a picnic and the sun is shining, it’s sure that you will have a nice day.

We leave the mountains and head towards the city of Mozart, or of the famous film ‘The Sound of Music’.

Salzburg is a big city you would never see it all. But if you only have one day to enjoy it, do it the right way. If you go to the city by car, there are a lot of parking spaces and the price is not high. You enter through tunnel Siegmundstor. This tunnel is like a time machine and has a lot of charm. Then, have a little walk along the wonderful old town streets and the most important squares, to have a quick idea about the city.

My couple, my dog and I, visited the city in august and it was a very hot day. So, to fresh up, you may go to the riverside. There is a big walk with big trees, which make a nice shade. And in summer there are stalls, a lot of stalls. To go to the other part of Salzburg, you have to cross the river by the Müllner bridge.

From there, you may take the typical photo from Salzburg, with the river and the castle at the end. In this part there are big gardens, the Mirabell gardens, where you may rest and listen to live music. To return to the centre of Salzburg, cross another bridge, the Makart, this is the lovers’ bridge. It’s full of locks and it’s so photogenic.

Mountain again. But this time by car. I recommend that you go to GrossGlockner in the Hohen Tauern national park. This excursion is an alpine road with spectacular views, and never forgets the camera. This panoramic road is 48km long and at the end you can see the Pasterze glacier. Once on the top, if you have get up early, you may choose one of the beautiful excursions they propose.

And if you are bicycle lovers, you might dare to go up by bike. To enter in this national park and drive along the road, it’s necessary to buy a ticket for 35€. But this money is worth it because this road is one of the most fascinating panoramicinf Europe. Let’s go to the last city, before we return home.

The Tyrolean capital, Innsbruck. It’s a beautiful city with colorful houses and a center with a lot of typical food and Tyrolean costumes. If you only want to take a walk, I recommend that you go to the old city center and walk quietly and then go to the wonderful riverside.

But if you want to visit any building, or the Bergisel Ski Jump Tower or climb a cable car, then you have to buy the Innsbruck Card for 24 hours, which is ratter expensive (39€). We didn’t do that since up preferred losing ourselves in the city streets, buy some souvenirs and watch the Swarovski crystals and eat the Apfelstrudle a typical Austrian dessert.
